The tour first visits Thoronet Abbey, a prime example of Cistercian architecture built between 1160 and 1230. Explore its cloister and well-preserved conventual buildings dating back to the 12th century.
Next, travel to Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume to visit the Basilica of Saint Mary Magdalene, the largest Gothic church in Provence. The basilica houses the relics of Mary Magdalene, officially recognized by the Catholic Church in 1281. The basilica’s construction was commissioned by Charles II of Anjou, with support from Pope Boniface VIII.
The final stop is Avignon, where you will tour the Palace of the Popes. Once the center of papal authority, the palace features grand halls such as the Palais Vieux, Grand Tinel, and Consistory, along with the private chambers of the resident Popes.
