Description
Come hungry and join a small group for a walking feast through Vieux Nice, following the dishes and flavors that have fed the city for generations.
Start with socca, hot from the copper pan, and discover why this simple chickpea flatbread became one of the city's most loved street foods. Along the way, taste local favourites such as pissaladière, the wonderfully unexpected tourte aux blettes, and other Niçois specialities, with a cold glass of local wine called by Thomas Jefferson 'the most elegant everyday wine in the world'.
As you walk through markets, narrow streets, and neighborhood institutions, your host will reveal the stories behind what you're eating: the fishermen and farmers who supplied the city, the influence of nearby Italy and Piedmont, the ingredients that traveled through Mediterranean trade routes, and the resourceful home cooking that became la cuisine nissarde. For centuries, the Mediterranean has been a crossroads of people, cultures and traditions, with ingredients and recipes travelling from one shore to another. The Mediterranean is a continuous conversation, and food is how you listen to it.
Taste it, and you begin to understand the place, not just visit it.
A new city can feel overwhelming, and its best places are rarely the easiest to find. We help you find your way in. Some stops are standing, some sitting, and some are simply a bite worth crossing town for. Meet people, share a table, and discover places you may never have found on your own. Your host will also leave you with favorite local addresses and ideas for what to eat, see, and explore during the rest of your stay.
Every place has a food story. Taste it today.
