Begin your day at the Provençal market on Place de la Libération, a local spot distinct from the tourist-centered flower market in Old Town Nice. Continue to the Cimiez district, where you can see the Roman arenas, Queen Victoria’s palace, the Franciscan monastery, and the cemetery featuring painter Matisse’s tomb. Visit Saint Nicholas Cathedral, one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals outside Russia, built in 1903 and inaugurated in 1912.
Your guide will then drive along the Promenade des Anglais and the port to Villefranche, a medieval village known for its colorful buildings and one of France’s most beautiful bays, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat. You will have free time for lunch in this Mediterranean port (lunch not included).
After lunch, continue to Château Domaine de la Source for a vineyard tour and wine tasting, sampling some of the best wines near Nice. The day concludes with a visit to Gairault Hill, where you can view the city and its waterfall—a favored spot for locals on weekends.
